Active users review hotels, flights, rentals, restaurants, and activities in travel destinations all over the world and share it with the community. Other users are then able to access the information to help them with their travel plans.
TripAdvisor has been active since 2000 and is based in Newton Massachusetts. They employ about 1,300 employees and bring in almost $500 million in revenue each year. The site, and their 17 other travel branded sites, are free to users and make money through advertising.

TripAdvisor interns typically work at the Massachusetts headquarters, but there are sometimes internships in offices in 6 other countries. Interns work in the engineering, marketing, content, advertising, HR, or finance departments. TripAdvisor’s partner sites like AirFareWatchDog, BookingBuddy, SmarterTravel, TravelPod, WhereIveBeen, and others also offer internships.
Interns are usually paid to work on projects with full-time employees. The work environment is casual and feels like a start-up. Perks include things like free lunches, happy hours, and game rooms.
Most internships last a semester (10 weeks) and TripAdvisor prefers students in their junior year of university. Internships focus on helping you learn the ins and outs of a company by allowing you to get hands-on experience with actual projects.
